Job Summary
The job consists of routine and specialized work in performing security duties and enforcing order and discipline amongst the prisoners at the county jail. Work involves responsibility for preventing escape maintaining order and discipline within the prisoner population and for escorting prisoners to and from their cells. The Jailer maintains security in and around cell blocks by checking facilities taking head counts and performing security patrols. The employee performs the duties necessary to book a prisoner into the jail including photographing and finger printing. The Jailer will supervise inmates in specific assignments to include but not limited to laundry kitchen book-in court services control and road crew.
- Required: Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification (POST) as a Jailer must be received within 6 months from the date of hire
- Schedule includes days nights weekends and holidays.
- High School Diploma/GED Minimum 18 years of age
Must have and maintain a valid United States Driver’s License (Class C) a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) and the ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle; if assigned job duties require the use of a vehicle
Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen/Credit Check/Polygraph Test/Background Investigation/Psychological Examination and MVR.
