This role is for credentialed Sonographers who can perform Vascular Ultrasound and Echocardiography exams in an outpatient-focused setting at Wellstar Cobb Medical Center, delivering diagnostic-quality studies and a calm, professional patient experience.

To be considered, you must have ALL of the following:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent from accredited program
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or accredited Cardiovascular Technology program

Certifications

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ARRT Vascular Sonography or Registered Vascular Specialist or Registered Vascular Technologist
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo

Experience

  • 1+ year experience in echocardiography or vascular sonography

Schedule

  • Part-Time – 16 hours/week, Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:00 am -4:30 pm
  • Potential for additional hours with on-call, weekends, holidays, or nights

Role Overview

You’ll provide safe, accurate ultrasound exams following lab protocols, while keeping patients informed and studies moving cleanly through the workflow.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiography exams (including adult echo and, if applicable at your site: pediatric, TEE, and stress echo)
  • Perform vascular ultrasound studies, including carotid duplex, ABI (with and without exercise), AAA screening / aorta, Upper & lower extremity arterial and venous scans
  • Obtain clinical history, assess contraindications, and verify the clinician order before scanning
  • Perform required measurements/calculations and provide a preliminary summary to the interpreting physician per protocol
  • Support contrast-enhanced ultrasound workflows when applicable (image enhancing agents and saline bubble studies)
  • Ensure correct patient identification (2 identifiers), proper markers/labeling, and clinically acceptable image quality
  • Send studies to PACS and complete RIS documentation accurately
  • Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the exam
  • Keep equipment clean, disinfected, and functioning; report issues quickly

Experience

  • 1+ year experience in echocardiography or vascular sonography
